Dawn Patrol #15: Delia, Lily and Tommy

Dawn Patrol #15: Delia, Lily and Tommy

Meet Delia and her 2 dog crew. Lily, a Border Collie mix, is two years old, and she has exactly one hobby: the ball. Doesn't matter who throws it, doesn't matter how far — she's going, and she's bringing it back, and she will absolutely do this forty more times if you let her. She was rescued in LA at Barks and Bitches, one of six puppies in a litter her mom Delia pulled out of a rough spot. Delia found homes for the other five. Lily, it turns out, was never actually up for adoption — she just didn't know it yet.

Then there's Tommy Two Boots, ten and a half years old, also an LA rescue, and the undisputed mayor of Dog Beach. While Lily's off running ball drills, Tommy's working the crowd — saying hi, making friends, generally acting like he's got somewhere to be and everywhere is exactly it. The dog does not meet a stranger.

This crew hits the sand five, sometimes six mornings a week. That's not a typo — Delia has basically built her schedule around it, which honestly checks out once you've seen these two in action.

Post-beach, there's a system: Lily gets hosed down at the car with about three gallons of water (sand waits for no one), and both dogs get a real bath once a week to stay fresh. And on the days Delia's at work? These two aren't just sitting around missing her — they've got a friend's house to hang at, because apparently even the off days come with a social calendar.

Some dogs have a beach day. Lily and Tommy have a beach life.
